INTRODUCTION

Composite fabrication laboratory specializes in composite processing by hand-lay-up method. The lab provides support for all research projects related to composite materials and also for a laboratory course on composite materials for aerospace engineering student. We conduct teaching on composite materials for aerospace undergraduate student and also short course that is open to public on composite materials processing and fabrication. We also assist in university research projects related to manufacturing and testing of composite materials and structure.

LAB CAPABILITIES

Lab capabilities include:

1. Specimen and prototype manufacturing using hand lay-up method.

2. Composite processing equipment such as vacuum-oven, lab dryer, lay-up tools, acid digestion and burn-off equipments, etc.

3. A variety of raw materials for composite fabrication (fibreglass unidirectional pre-preg and woven cloth, carbon fibre unidirectional, epoxy resin, vinyl ester resin etc.)

4. Equipment for trimming and cutting of composites.
